Online Metronome
Set 30–300 BPM, tap a tempo, and share the same practice settings with a student or bandmate. No account or installation.
Build speed gradually
Choose Gradually increase tempo, set a target and choose how many BPM to add after a number of bars. The beat speeds up at a bar boundary and holds the target once reached. Stop to change the plan. Practice links preserve the training settings and never start playback automatically.
Send a practice tempo with a lesson
- Set the tempo and beats per bar for the exercise.
- Copy the practice link into your lesson notes or a message.
- Your student opens the link and presses Start. They can adjust the tempo as they improve.
Try 60 BPM with four beats or 90 BPM with three beats. These are starting examples, not a prescribed practice speed.
Have a recording but do not know its tempo? Use the BPM detector for an estimate, then check it by ear with Tap Tempo. Keep this tab active while practising.
Frequently asked questions
Is this online metronome free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no account, installation, or usage limit.
How do I share a tempo with a student?
Choose the BPM and beats per bar, then use Copy practice link. The link opens with those settings already selected. The recipient presses Start when ready; no sound starts automatically.
What does the practice link contain?
The tempo, beat count, optional gradual-training settings and campaign labels for the shared link. It does not include your name, a recording or a practice history. Sharing a link does not synchronize playback between devices.
What tempo range does it support?
You can set any whole-number tempo from 30 to 300 BPM and choose 2, 3, 4, or 6 beats per bar. The first beat is accented.
Why should I keep the tab active?
Browsers may reduce timer activity in background tabs. Keep this page visible during practice for the most stable beat scheduling.
